Control panels

The work of diving supervisor is by the dive control panels. Those are the panels to control life parameters of the diving crew, during an underwater operation. The parameters include oxygen, temperature, and pressure, among others.

Valves, buttons

System can model traditional and digital control surfaces. Traditional dive control panels feature hardware gauges, meters, and levers – for interaction with touch. More modern ones show computer monitor-based buttons and controls.


Dive Control Simulator gives simulated scenarios training to diving supervisors, with normal operations, what-ifs and emergency cases covered. This is makes a simulator stand out, compared to training in real operation conditions.It also eases the preparation for the IMCA certification


No custom hardware is required, as the simulator runs on off-the-shelf hardware components: computers and touch monitors. The system can be provided as a full package including the hardware, or as a software-only system.

IMCA Regulations for simulators

IMCA provides a regulation document, IMCAD013: Offshore Diving Supervisor and Life Support Technician Certification Schemes. This document sets the Minimum Requirements for Certification of Diving Supervisors.

According to IMCA grading, PaleBlue DCS is a Class B (fully digital) simulator.

Air Diving Supervisor
Up to 40 panel hours and 20 surface dives can be gained by 20 hands-on hours’ experience on a class B simulator working as a trainee air diving supervisor.

Bell Diving Supervisor
Up to 70 panel hours and 10 bell runs can be gained by 35 hands-on hours’ experience on a class B simulator working as a trainee bell diving supervisor.

For Dive Control Simulator, we have taken control panels of dive support vessels and carefully digitized them to the last knob, making sure all the details are in place. Then, we have programmed the controls to respond to touch interaction. The resulted dive control panel is deployed to a work station with large touch monitors.

Under the hood

We have created the best-in-class touch panel simulation engine, called Icon™.

Icon is fast, provides graphics that look stunning, and has unique input technology, making touch panel interaction easier than ever before.

Icon runs on touch screens with multi-touch interaction. It is skinnable, meaning touch panel type can be switched from traditional valve-based to modern computer monitor-based in just a second.

Screens run pre-recorded videos of diver helmet cameras, bell cameras, and chamber cameras, and can render and show real-time 3D diving simulation.

For running the logic, we have created Simulation Process Engine, which models the pressure, temperature, and othe parameters behind the scene in a real-time manner and sends the results to Icon, the dive control panel engine.

VR Diver Integration

Good communication and understanding between dive supervisor and divers is crucial. That’s why we developed the VR Diver. VR Diver is an extension to Dive Control Simulator and is based on 3D Virtual Reality technology (VR).

We have solved this by making the technology compatible with the DCS Dive Control Simulator. The result opens for a realistic training of dive supervisor and divers together in one session.

Simultaneous operations, or SIMOPS, means running different offshore operations at the same time, for example, crane and diving or DP and diving.

Dive Control Simulator provides an interface for integration with other types of simulator systems, so training in diving simulator can run in parallel with other simulator systems, such as crane simulator, DP simulation, ROV simulator, and other training systems.
