The Latest Industrial VR and Simulation Trends at the ONS 2018 Conference in Stavanger

Attendees at the Energy Show in Stavanger are on the lookout for the best of new and emerging technology in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions (ONS 2018) which is known as a great environment to see and experience new trends. People often ask, what exactly do you mean by “experience new trends”? It’s a reasonable question—some of our picks haven’t yet reached widespread use, while others may be commercially available – like VR Diver. What we’re really looking for is a technology, or perhaps even a collection of technologies, that will have a profound effect on our industry.

Although we (the technology industry as a whole) have an idea of where the augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) market is headed, companies generally seem “sheepish” in developing their own plans and solutions. The majority of the companies at the ONS 2018 Show feature VR and AR technology at their stands to attract attention and there were few companies that were actually developing VR and AR products. PaleBlue is one of the few to showcase actual working VR and AR tools for the end users.

PaleBlue had an open forum everyday starting at 15.00 at the conference to answer all questions and let people actually see how AR and VR solutions can be created to improve training, reduce training costs, reduce down time, and cut cost. PaleBlue decided to have the forum “manned” by designers, developers, and project managers so that all questions would and could be answered. They were surprised to see how many attendees stopped by the forum and asked very specific situations, questions, and asked for demonstrations of how to address issues – which the team did. Felix Gorbatsevich said “It gives every attendee a chance to do more than merely ‘watch’ a technology demo, taking a break from the busy expo floor, and diving into a ‘hands-on’ adventures using AR and VR in a simulator that will inspire any professional. The goal was to allow the attendees to see how these solutions really work and do a trial run.”

We look forward to demonstrating our VR solutions to our guests – just stop by booth 9447 in Hall 9. Also, feel free to contact us if you have any questions, want more information, and have projects we can help with.
