PaleBlue has delivered an industrial version of its ROV Trainer simulator to Ocean Works Asia (OWA) in Japan, continuing its work with customers in the Asian market.

The delivery includes an IMCA-aligned ROV training simulator and, for the first time, a LARS (Launch and Recovery System) module as part of the simulator setup.

As part of the project, the delivered ROV Trainer simulator features underwater scenarios aligned with International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) requirements. Following installation, OWA applied for and received IMCA and ClassNK accreditation for their ROV Course. This demonstrates how clients utilizing PaleBlue simulators can achieve accreditation for their training programs by meeting subsea quality and safety standards. 

This delivery also marks the first time PaleBlue has supplied its LARS module together with the ROV simulator. With the addition of the LARS module, OWA can now incorporate launch and recovery operations into its ROV training program, providing a broader and more complete training experience.

As part of the delivery, PaleBlue also provided training for OWA’s instructors. The team introduced the instructors to the simulator, its functionality, the full range of available scenarios, and the approach for conducting training sessions in alignment with IMCA accreditation standards. Specific attention was given to inspection and salvage operations, as well as the use of ROV tools in scenarios such as Flying Lead Insertion. This training will enable OWA’s instructors to use the simulator independently and conduct training for future ROV operators.

The training also provided an opportunity to demonstrate the simulator’s realistic ROV handling and physics, together with a wide range of instructor controls designed to influence and adapt the training environment, including adjustable current and vessel heave.

This project represents another step in PaleBlue’s client base expansion, from Europe, Americas and the MENA region to Asia.
